Company History

Meiji era year 13 (1880) Jubei Murata, a smoke pipe dealer, established the manufacturing and sales business succeeding the business of The Cloisonne Company of Great Japan.
Ando Cloisonne opened the business from this period in Nagoya city.
Invited Sataro, the grandson of Master Tsunekichi Kaji, who is the founder of the Owari Shippo (Cloisonne), as the manager of factory.
Meiji era year 23 (1890) Opened the branch store in Ginza, Kyobashi-ku, Tokyo.
Meiji era year 33 (1900) Started as purveyor to the Ministry of the Imperial Household. Won the gold medal in Paris International Exposition.
Meiji era year 34 (1901) Won the gold medal at the Glasgow International Exposition in the U.K.
Meiji era year 35 (1902) Won the grand prize of honor at the Russia International Exposition.
Meiji era year 37 (1904) Won the grand prize of honor at the St. Louis International Exposition in the U.S.
Moved the factory to a new facility, which is the current location (known at the time as Yabacho 5-setsu)
Meiji era year 39 (1906) Won the Grand Prix at the Milan International Exposition.
Meiji era year 40 (1907) Moved the Tokyo branch to the old Sukiya-cho 4-chome 1 (current location).
Won prizes such as the Silver Medal of Honor and the first prize medal at the Tokyo Industrial Exposition.

Showa era year 22 (1947) Reconstructed the main store and factory of Nagoya. Made Shotai Cloisonne with 15 employees.

Showa era year 34 (1959) Made Bugaku-Seigaihabun-Daikabin following the order from the Imperial Household Agency for the marriage of crown prince Akihito.
Showa era year 43 (1968) Received the order of Sippo-Jyuni-Ryokyo decoration for the new palace by the Imperial Household Agency.
Showa era year 44 (1969) Made Cloisonne Suedama during the 60th renovation of Ise Jingu Shrine.
Showa era year 46 (1971) Having eceived the orders of Takamatsumiya Cup (Inscribed with the coat-of-arms) up to now from the Central Racecourse of Japan Racing Association.
Showa era year 48 (1973) Received the order of the repair work of the golden Cloisonne parts of Sakashitamon gate of Niko Toshogu Shrine.
Showa era year 49 (1974) Gifted a large Cloisonne porcelain vase with flora design to the imperial guest house.
Showa era year 52 (1977) Won the Nagoya Mayor’s Prize at the First National Traditional Item Exhibition.

Heisei era year 10 (1998) Finished the repair work of 4 Cloisonne pillars of ‘Seiryusya’ of Handa Ishibashi-gumi Dashi (started from 1995).

Heisei era year 14 (2002)The main store of Nagoya was newly reopened as ‘Nagoya Cloisonne Square’. ‘Nagoya Cloisonne Square’ won the grand prize at the 11th Aichi Machinami Architecture Awards and the 35th Chubu Architecture Awards 2003
Heisei era year 17 (2005)Produced the handgrip, collision prevention and sign of Kyoto Guest House on order.
Heisei era year 22 (2010)The 130th Anniversary of the establishment of company
Heisei era year 27 (2015)Gifted a Cloisonne plate to the Nagoya City Hall, celebrating the first anniversary of the designation of the city hall complex as an important cultural property.
